BUILD A CHURCH IN COSTA RICA

In 2020, MOVE Ministries constructed a church 6 miles outside of Upala, Costa Rica. Since that time, the church sent a portion of its congregation to plant another church within the city of Upala. The congregation has grown to 40 people and has recently purchased property. We are excited to partner with Open Bible Churches of Costa Rica to continue expanding their impact.

Costa Rica is a haven of biodiversity and vibrant culture, making it an inspiring setting for a missions project. This Central American gem hosts over 500,000 species, representing nearly 4% of the world’s biodiversity, with lush rainforests, cloud forests, and coral reefs teeming with wildlife like sloths, toucans, and sea turtles. Its commitment to conservation, with over 25% of its land protected in national parks, reflects a deep cultural value of environmental stewardship. The "Pura Vida" ethos embodies the warm, laid-back spirit of Costa Ricans, blending indigenous, Spanish, and Afro-Caribbean influences in colorful festivals, traditional music like marimba, and cuisine featuring gallo pinto and fresh tropical fruits. This rich tapestry of nature and culture offers a meaningful backdrop for mission work focused on community engagement and ecological preservation.

What to Expect:

Stay in Upala at the Hotel Wilson (2-hour bus ride from Liberia, Costa Rica).

Join the MOVE Brotherhood to serve and grow spiritually.

Dates: January 19–February 4, 2027*

Cost: $3,000 ($400 deposit with application; full payment by November 15, 2026)**

Includes: Airfare, housing, most meals, ground transportation, 15% toward construction.

Excludes: Meals during travel, snacks, souvenirs.

Requirements: Valid passport, recommended vaccinations, completed online application.

Travel: Fly into Liberia, Costa Rica; transfers provided.

Late Applications: Accepted until November 15, 2026. Deposits are refundable if not accepted.
