The Moore's, African Missionaries Print E-mail

Tom is the son of former missionaries Grant and Wilma Moore. He served in Guinea, West Africa, with his parents for fourteen years. Tom has B.A. degrees in French, Education and Religion. Tom taught French in a public school system for twelve years.

Sherry is the daughter of former missionaries Bob and Evelyn Welch and was born in Liberia, West Africa. She has a B.S. degree in Elementary and Special Education. Sherry has taught children in both public and private Christian schools. In the public school system, she taught children with learning and behavior problems.

While teaching in public schools in Iowa, Tom and Sherry pastored the Open Bible Church in Knoxville, Iowa. Following that ministry, they pastored in Sedalia, Missouri. Tom served as superintendent for the Missouri/Kansas district. He was appointed Central Region representative to the Board of International Ministries in 1984.

The Moores were appointed to Guinea, West Africa, in 1986. The country had been closed to western influence and missionaries for almost 20 years. As former missionary children, Tom and Sherry had lived in Guinea and Liberia, respectively, and were prepared for this unique ministry. The Moores have been involved in successful church planting and training national pastors and leadership in this mostly Muslim country. The Moores have broadened their scope of ministry to include occasional pastoral and women's seminars in other African nations where Open Bible ministers.

The Moores have four adult sons, Tom II, Mike, Scott, and Tim.
