Ray Rexius

Ray was the Director for MOVE for almost 19 years. He was a team member several years earlier in 1981 on the first MOVE missionary project .The project was to build a Bible School in the Bislig area on the island of Mindanao. There Ray caught the vision that men grow most when they have an opportunity to leave all behind and use all their strength and energy serving the Lord, and also by serving others much less fortunate then we are. He realized how important the Open Bible missionary program was, but didn’t realize until then, how much the men could benefit too, as well as their churches and families. Neither did Ray realize that six years later, in 1987. he would be asked to direct the MOVE ministry for Open Bible.

What a privilege it has been to see God work His miracles on each MOVE trip to bless our missionaries and their congregations, and at the same time do wonders in the lives of the men on the crew. Introverts have been changed to extroverts for the Lord. Followers have been changed into leaders. Missionary efforts have grown and flourished as the result of the newly constructed facilities and the new interest provided by the MOVE crew’s efforts and love.

Ray has been a businessman almost all of his adult life, and has always believed in making investments carefully and in areas that produce the most profit and satisfaction. He has found that to be especially true in the MOVE program. Every dollar spent seems to produce five dollars worth of results in both the lives of the giver and the receiver and the lives they touch. After directing 20 projects over 19 years, Ray feels convinced even more than ever that this is true. Though he no longer directs the MOVE crew, his heart and support is still with them and his contributions to the projects, men and leaders continue. What better place could he find to please his Lord, who by His mighty miracles and love has made MOVE possible?

Men Of Vision Evangelize was led by Ray Rexius for nearly twenty years. His love of the ministry has helped it to flourish as the Lord has blessed his dedication. In 2007 Ray stepped back from the National Director's role but remains active in MOVE on the board. Today MOVE is directed by Don Tietz as National Director and Dave Bethany as Project Construction Director. This year we have added two more members to the leadership team as board members. Don Porter and Steve Drake will add their skills and love of the ministry to the MOVE team as we continue to grow and prepare for the future of this men's ministry.

Meet each of the five members of this leadership team:

Don Tietz- Current National Director

Don Tietz In 1998 Don heard of a M.O.V.E. trip to Mexico to build Puente de Amistad, a youth missions base, and immediately signed up knowing the Lord was calling him to go! Don knew upon arriving in Mexico that this was something he loved and was called to do. The fellowship and growth of the men as they worked laughed and cried together was special and he knew he needed to be a part of this! The impression M.O.V.E made on Don that first year did not lessen. He has been on every trip since, being blessed to work alongside some of the greatest men in this world today. Missionaries who give their lives 24-7 for the Lord, Church leaders, Church members and the men of MOVE are some of the best people he’s come to know.

David Bethany - Project Construction Director

David BethanyFor more than 20 years David has been involved in MOVE through leadership in his local church MOVE group, leading construction teams from Southern California, or directing the construction for the National MOVE organization.  Over that span of time David has also led numerous weekend teams to Tijuana, Mexico to build and repair houses, build a “Kids Kitchen” and minister to hundreds of less fortunate people.  David also organized and led several Men’s Retreats while serving as the district leader for Southern California MOVE in the early 1990’s.  One of the more fun ministries that David was involved in was the five years he served as the Southern California Children’s Ministry Junior Camp Activity Director.  Between the water wars and screaming warm ups one was never sure who had more fun – the kids, or David.  However, the best part was watching hundreds of children make commitments to the Lord.

Donald Dean Porter- MOVE Chaplain, Board Member

Don has 5 children, 7 Grandchildren, and 6 Great grandchildren. He pastors three Churches, has served as Central Regional M.O.V.E. Director and as Regional Director for Mobil Kingdom Builders. He has taken men on short term mission trips in the US which included, Oregon, Florida, Missouri and in his home state of Iowa.  Don started going on M.O.V.E. trips in 1987 and found that a strong bond developed between men on these trips. Men might come as Church attendees but go home as Godly Passionate Men of God. Don believes that men need to discover themselves and that M.O.V.E. helps this to happen.

Steven Drake - Board Member

Steve first joined the MOVE team in 2001 on a trip to Papua New Guinea.  Since then he has traveled with MOVE on 6 other trips around the world.  Steve has a passion to see men have the opportunity to serve in the mission field while allowing the Lord to work in their own lives.

Steve and his wife Pam serve on the youth staff at First Church of the Open Bible in Spokane, WA and have taken several teams to Tijuana, Mexico to build houses for local families and to minister to others in the community. He also serves as an elder in the church, leads a home bible group with Pam, and has hosted students for Spokane Master Commission.
